Google Pixel 9: Setting up the smartphone

Before setting up your Google Pixel 9, charge the device according to the included user manual. You can insert your SIM card either before switching it on for the first time or afterward.

  1. Turn on the device using the power button and wait for the home screen to appear. The device will ask you to select a language, then a Wi-Fi network and to agree to the terms of use and privacy policy.
  2. The device will then ask you if you want to transfer data from your old smartphone. To do so, select “Copy data” and follow the instructions that appear on the screen. Data transfer is possible via cable or wirelessly.
  3. Once you have selected and confirmed which data you want to transfer, the transfer will run automatically. You can also skip the data transfer and do it at a later time.
  4. In the next step you have the option to log in with your Google account.
  5. Your Google Pixel 9 will then ask you to set up the screen lock. Once you have entered and confirmed a four-digit PIN of your choice, you can now set up fingerprint and facial recognition for unlocking.
  6. Now select your default browser and search engine. After the limited warranty notice, there is an introduction to Google AI and the device's security features.
  7. Finally, you can set up Google Pay and select other setup options before the device gives you a quick tutorial on how to use the Google Pixel 9.
