speedport.ip configuration - how it works

Configuring your Telekom router using the local address http:\\speedport.ip is child's play. We will explain the necessary steps to you.

Router configuration via speedport.ip

“How do I configure my Speedport router?” This is a question that Telekom customers have to deal with. The device itself has no display and only a few buttons. So you need other means.

  1. The first step is to connect the router to the power supply and turn it on.
  2. Even if it is not yet connected to the Internet, your Speedport is setting up a WiFi network. You can log into it using a device such as a computer or smartphone.
  3. The access data for the WLAN network can be found on the back of the router.
  4. Now open a browser on your device and enter “http://speedport.ip”. Alternatively, you can use the IP address “http://192.168.2.1”.
  5. To access the configuration menu, you need the device password, which is also located on the back of the Speedport.

Configure Telekom router via speedport.ip

You are now in the menu of your router. It is clear and easy to use. Here you can, among other things, enter the access data for your Telekom Internet connection, set filters for certain devices and secure your WLAN network with an individual password.

  • If you are configuring the Telekom router for the first time, you can use the step-by-step wizard. You will find it in the navigation at the top left.
  • To protect the router configuration from unauthorized access, you should change the device password. This can be done under “Security” in the menu and then “Device Password”.
  • In the “Security” menu, you should also set up a password for your Wi-Fi access under the “SSID & Encryption” item in the “Wi-Fi security settings” tab at the bottom. Under “Wi-Fi access restriction” you only allow certain devices to access the Wi-Fi network.
  • If you select the “Device List” option in the “Network” menu, you will see all the devices that are currently in your network. In the “Network” menu, you can also turn the Wi-Fi function on and off.
  • Under “Overview” in the “Status” tab you can find out the most important information such as WiFi password and network speeds.
  • From time to time, you should follow the instructions under “Firmware Update” in the “Load & Save” menu and check whether there are any new updates for your router’s firmware so that it is always up to date and as secure as possible.

Faster WiFi, greater range – the new Speedports

If your Speedport router is already getting on in years, you should also think about a newer and faster device. This is because Telekom routers are constantly being developed and improved.

  • For example, the latest router generations offer the fastest WLAN-ac standard, integrated printer servers and useful USB ports. It can also be worthwhile to look at products from other manufacturers.
  • Telekom uses Speedports as standard routers. However, you can also use other devices such as a Fritzbox.
  • To configure this router, go to the address “https://fritz.box”. You will receive the access data for the WLAN network and the Fritzbox on an enclosed card.
