Buy a 49-euro ticket for another person: How it works

The new 49-euro ticket, which can be used throughout Germany, can only be purchased as a subscription and is personalized. This means that you cannot simply pass a ticket you have bought for yourself on to someone else. You can, however, buy and pay for a ticket subscription for someone else, e.g. for your children or grandparents. However, you cannot pay for it in cash.

  1. If you would like to take out a ticket subscription, you can do so on the websites or in the apps of the individual transport associations or on the Deutsche Bahn (DB) website or in the DB app.
  2. You can also book a 49-euro ticket for someone else by selecting the “Germany Ticket” under “Tickets & Offers” in the “Regional Offers” section on the DB website.
  3. Click on “Book” and in the next step select the month in which the subscription should start. Then go to “Enter personal details” and log in to the site or register.
  4. After registering, enter your name, date of birth and address. Then click on the red field “To the person travelling” at the bottom. Now select the second option under the options “I am using the ticket myself” or “I am ordering for another person”.
  5. Now enter the personal details of the person the ticket is for. Also enter an email address to which the ticket should be sent. Then go to “Payment” and enter your payment details. After the final check of the order details, confirm your purchase.
  6. The ticket can then be loaded from the email into the “DB Navigator” app or saved as a PDF and printed out. The person for whom you bought the ticket can then travel through Germany on local public transport with the Deutschlandticket.
