The Action Button was already introduced on the iPhone 15 Pro, and this special button can also be found on the new generation of Apple devices.
- The iPhone 16 also comes with an action button in the non-Pro version. The button is located to the left above the volume rocker. On the iPhone 16 Pro it is even slightly larger than on its predecessor, but the elliptical shape has remained the same.
- By default, the action button is there to quickly mute your phone. It replaces the mute switch. But the button is customizable.
- In the settings of your iPhone, you can decide what should happen when you press the action button. For example, you can open frequently used apps or other functions that you want to access quickly at the touch of a button.

While the Action Button does not represent a major change compared to the previous series, the Capture Button makes its debut on the iPhone 16.
- The Capture Button, also known as Camera Control, is designed to improve the camera experience on the iPhone. It makes it even easier than before to take photos or videos without having to navigate through a menu. If you want to capture a special moment, you can do so particularly quickly using the new button.
- The button is located on the bottom right side of the smartphone and can not only quickly start the camera, but can also be used as a two-stage shutter release. Press the button once to focus, and press it again to take the photo.
