Ikea exchange – How it works

Ikea exchange - How it works

Exchanging items at Ikea is usually hassle-free. This applies to both products from the online shop and items purchased on site.

Exchange at Ikea – how to return goods

You have 365 days from the date of purchase of the Ikea items to return the items in new and unused condition to the nearest Ikea store, presenting the receipt or invoice.

  • You have several options when returning your purchased goods. If it is a smaller item that you bought online, you can return your goods via parcel return.
  • To do so, fill out a return form, which you can find under the “Customer Service” -> “Returns & Complaints” tab. However, an exchange is usually not possible in this case: you have to reorder the product.
  • If you would like to return larger items such as furniture, you can use the express return in the furniture store. Please prepare this online. You will then receive a barcode via email.
  • This is valid for two weeks. Now take your goods to the nearest Ikea store. There you can make the exchange yourself.

This is what you need to consider when returning

If you want to return an item, you not only have to do so within 365 days, but you also have to keep a few things in mind.

  • The item must be in new, unused condition. The only exception is mattresses. You can return mattresses to Ikea within one year, even if they have been used, as long as they show no signs of wear.
  • Furniture may already have been assembled. It is important that it does not show any signs of wearIn most cases, you can then return the furniture assembled.
  • The so-called “bargain items”, lamps, green plants and cut goods are excluded from exchange.
