Amazon Fire TV is not working - here's what you can do

If your Amazon Fire TV or Fire TV Stick no longer works, it could be due to the device itself or the television. We'll show you how to solve the problem.

Solve problems with the Amazon Fire TV Stick

  • Restart: Press and hold the Select and Play buttons on the remote for a few seconds until the Fire TV restarts. This usually solves many problems.
  • Strom: If the restart doesn't work, unplug the Fire TV's power cable. Then reconnect the device after about 10 seconds.
  • WLAN: If the content is not loading, there is usually a problem with your Wi-Fi connection. Also briefly unplug your router and then reconnect it.

  • Resolution: If no image is displayed, hold down the “Up” and “Back” buttons on the remote and wait a few seconds. The Fire TV will then try to find the correct resolution. This process takes around 30 seconds.
  • Apps: The applications also cause problems from time to time. Open “Applications” under “Settings” and select “Manage all installed applications”. Find the app you want and select the options “Clear data”, “Clear cache” and “Force stop”.
  • Cable: There may also be a fault with the HDMI cable. If the TV remains black, try a different HDMI cable.

In case of emergency: completely reset Amazon Fire TV

  • Reset: In the “Settings” open the “System” category and select the option “Reset to factory settings” at the bottom. This will delete all content and settings on the Fire TV.
  • Return: If you continue to have problems with your Fire TV, you can return the device up to 12 months after purchase and receive a new one. We'll show you how this works in this practical tip and in the video below.
