Apple: Check warranty status

To check the warranty status of Apple devices, you must have the serial number ready. Apple generally offers a limited, one-year warranty.

Check your warranty status with Apple

If your Apple device is malfunctioning, check the warranty status to see if you are entitled to a free repair. A free replacement device may also be provided under certain circumstances. Visit Apple's support page and do the following:

  • Enter the serial number of your Apple device in the text field provided. On iOS devices such as the iPhone or iPad, you can find this under “Settings” > “General” > “About”. The serial number is displayed.
  • For a Mac or MacBook, click the apple icon in the top left and choose About This Mac > More Info… Finally, click “Continue”. The serial number is displayed.
  • Once you have entered the number shown, you will be shown a wealth of information about the guarantee and the associated claims. You will also see the AppleCare Protection Plan protection here if you have completed this option.

What does my guarantee cover?

If you would like to find out what your coverage includes and, more importantly, when the warranty expires, follow these steps:

  • Type mysupport.apple.com into your search engine search bar. Sign in here with your Apple ID.
  • On the next page, select your device.
  • See which support options you qualify for. Additional hardware repair and technical support information is available.
