What is food sharing? All important information

The former ((http://praxistipps.chip.de/crowdfunding-was-ist-das_9903|Crowdfunding project)) “food sharing” has now become a real internet hype. You can find out exactly what’s behind it here.

How does food sharing work?

The overriding principle is: Don't throw away food! Instead, apples, pasta, eggs, etc. should be given to neighbors. According to the company, over 15 million kilograms of food have been saved so far.

  • Are you going on vacation but the fridge isn't empty yet? Then you can list your food on www.foodsharing.de.
  • To do this, you must register here for free. Alternatively, you can also log in with Facebook. There are no costs associated with registration.
  • Interested parties will then contact you and arrange a pickup date. In large cities there is usually a hotspot where food sharers can meet.
  • You can also find missing ingredients near you online and use your smartphone to navigate to the location.

Food sharing – this is what you need to consider

  • You are not allowed to give away all food: If the food has a use-by date (use by…), it is excluded from food sharing (e.g. raw fish and raw meat).
  • Goods with a minimum shelf life date (best before…) are unproblematic.
  • Self-prepared food and medication are also not allowed to be passed on via food sharing. This also applies to clothing, toys and other non-food items.

Noodles in particular are well suited for food sharing due to their long shelf life. In our home tip we will show you the best tips against sticky pasta.
