Screen recording in Windows 10: It's that easy

If you want to film your screen under Windows 10, you can use the same screencast tools as under older versions of Windows.

Windows 10: Film your screen without apps and tools

The easiest and fastest way to film the screen in Windows 10 works without programs or tools – if you know which keys to press.

  • To do this, press the key combination Win + G.
  • A menu appears that offers various gaming functions. (see image)
  • Press the circle at the top left. Alternatively, you can also use the key combination “Windows key” + “Alt* + “R”.



Screencasts under Windows 10: With these tools it works

To create a screencast, you can also use one of many free tools.

  • Use e.g. B. the VLC Media Player or the ActivePresenter to film your screen under Windows 10. You will find out how to create a screencast with the ActivePresenter in the next section.
  • Microsoft also offers its own software for screencasts, the Microsoft Expression Encoder.
  • You can also film your screen with the CamStudio program.

Screencast with ActivePresenter – this is how you film the screen

Install the ActivePresenter program on your PC and start the software.

  1. Click “New Capture.”
  2. At this point select “Record Movie/Streaming Video” out of.
  3. You can use the small pencil icon on the right side under “Cursor” select the yellow light to turn off your pointer.
  4. At this point you can also deactivate the pointer entirely if you wish. To do this, uncheck “Show Mouse in Full Motion Recording Mode”. Save the changes via “Save“.
  5. Then click on “OK” and then in the “Capture New Project” bar on the big red dot. The recording will now start.
  6. To stop recording, click on the small ActivePresenter icon in the menu bar and click “Stop“.
  7. ActivePresenter now offers various functions to edit your screencast professionally.
