The app store alternative Cydia is extensive and can quickly become confusing without instructions. To use Cydia, you need to learn a few basics.
Cydia instructions: Set up a Cydia account
A jailbreak is mandatory to use Cydia. Cydia installs it automatically. Once you have installed Cydia, proceed as follows:
- Create an account. This means your Cydia purchases will stay synced in the future and you won't have to pay for them again. This is particularly useful for new system installations.
- Select the “Manage Account” button on the start screen.
- You can now choose between your Facebook and Google accounts to authenticate. From now on, the respective account will serve as your Cydia account.
How to install Cydia apps on iPhone and iPad
Cydia app installation is similar to the “App Store”. However, a small additional function proves to be extremely practical.
- On the home screen, press the “Featured” button. Some of the most helpful Cydia apps are collected here.
- Select “Tools to Start With.”
- Now press a Cydia tool of your choice and then press “Install” in the top right corner.
- Now instead of pressing “Confirm”, press “Select Next”. This allows you to select additional Cydia apps to install.
- Once you're happy with your selection, press “Confirm” and the apps will be installed one by one on your iDevice.
