If you have dyed your hair too dark, there are some tips and tricks to make it lighter again. Just one shampoo works wonders.
If your hair is too dark, wash it to decolorize it
There is a gentle and easy solution if you have dyed your hair too dark. With the right shampoo, some of the color can be washed out of your hair after dyeing.
- Use a deep cleansing shampoo or an anti-dandruff shampoo. Under no circumstances should you use a color care product as this protects the hair color.
- Deep cleansing shampoo and anti-dandruff shampoo strip the color by roughening the hair structure.
- Allow the shampoo to work for a while before washing it out.
Discolor your hair with home remedies
You can also bleach your hair using home remedies. You probably already have the necessary ingredients at home.
- Camomile is ideal for decolorizing the hair. Take five tea bags and brew them with boiling water. Allow the tea to cool. Rinse your hair with the cold drink. After 30 minutes of exposure, you need to wash the infusion from your hair.
- Take 30 ml of lukewarm water with three tablespoons of lemon juice. Distribute the mixture through your hair and leave the liquid on for 20 minutes. The sun's UV radiation can intensify the effect. After this application, make sure that you use a hair treatment for bleached or colored hair to care for your hair.
- Add two tablespoons baking powder to the shampoo you want to wash your hair with. Distribute the mixture through your hair and leave it on for two minutes before washing everything out again.
Color Remover as a Chemical Alternative
If you prefer a chemical option, you can also use a color remover.
- The products decolorize the hair by extracting the color from hair that is dyed too dark: They shrink the color molecules in the hair so that you can simply wash them out afterwards.
- Apply a color remover as directed on the package. In most cases, a period of exposure is necessary before the product can be washed out of the hair.
Visually discolor your hair with highlights
You can also optically lighten your hair.
- Have highlights done in a slightly lighter color. This brings color reflections into the hair.
- For example, choose the ombre look. In this case, your hair goes from dark to light, making it appear slightly lighter overall.
