Gmail: recall emails

With Gmail, emails can be easily recalled in just a few steps. This way you prevent the emails from reaching their recipient.

Recall emails from Gmail – this is how you set up the feature

Gmail is one of the most popular email providers. The provider offers many different features that prove to be particularly useful in everyday life. This also includes the function of quickly recalling emails after they have been sent. The function can be easily set up in just a few steps.

  1. First, go to the Gmail web application and log in with your account. To do this, enter your account details and then type in your password. Your personal Gmail account will then open.
  2. Now activate the callback function for your Gmail account. To do this, go to the gear symbol at the top right and then to “Settings”.
  3. Select “General” in the top menu bar. Here you will find the text field “Recall emails”. Click the checkmark to activate the function. Confirm with “Save changes”.
  4. If the option is already selected, the function is already activated. You can now set the callback period. Select the longest grace period of 30 seconds. Next, scroll all the way down and select the “Save Change” option.

Use the callback option in Gmail

If you have activated the callback option, it is very easy to use with Gmail. In just a few steps you now have the option of recalling an email for a few seconds after sending it.

  • As soon as you click “Send” on an email, a confirmation message appears. Behind it you will find the “Undo” link. Click on it and you will be taken back to the editing window of your email.
  • Please note that this option is only possible in the first few seconds after sending. Depending on which setting you have selected, the function can be used for up to 30 seconds after sending the email.
  • If you have selected the “Undo” function, you can edit the sent email again and then send it or delete it completely. However, if you do not select the function within the specified period of time, the message will be sent to the recipient.
