Sending pictures with the iPhone - here's how it works

It's easy to send pictures with an iPhone. If you send a picture to someone else, they will receive the file in just a few seconds.

Send pictures with iPhone: Air Drop makes it possible

One of the most popular and well-known ways to send pictures with an iPhone is AirDrop. This is a sharing option that Apple integrates into iPhones. You don't need another app, you can easily transfer an image to another iPhone.

  1. First, turn on Bluetooth in your iPhone. Also make sure you are within Wi-Fi range. Then check that your receiver is also within Wi-Fi range and has the Bluetooth function activated.
  2. Now open Air Drop Settings in your iPhone. Make sure you enable Air-Drop to send and receive files. If necessary, enable this feature if it is disabled.
  3. Next, select your Photos app and open the app – Select the image you want to share.
  4. Now tap on the share icon. To share, select the AirDrop icon. Then click on the recipient that appears in the list. This will send the image to the selected person.

Send images via email app

From iOS 6 onwards it is possible to insert images directly into the Mail app. If you have an older version of iOS, open the Photos app, select an image, click on the arrow symbol at the bottom left and select “Mail”.

  1. Open the Mail app on your iPhone. Now click on the pen symbol at the bottom right to write a new email.
  2. Enter the recipient and a subject. Then click twice in the text field at a point where you want to insert the image.
  3. A menu will open in which you will find the item “Insert photo or video”. This may only become visible when you click on the arrow on the right.
  4. Now select the image you want to send. Then click on the word “Send”.
  5. If this is a larger file, you will have the option to compress the image after pressing “Send”. You can choose between Small, Medium, Large and the original size.
