Pin people on Snapchat: This is how it works

By pinning conversations on Snapchat, you can quickly access important contacts. This means they always remain visible at the top of the chat list.

Pin people on Snapchat: Here's how

If you have contacts on the social media platform Snapchat with whom you exchange snaps particularly often, you can pin them. This means the chats will automatically appear at the top and you will always have quick access to them.

  1. Open the Snapchat app on your smartphone and swipe left to go to the chat overview. Here, scroll to the contact whose chat you would like to pin. Alternatively, you can also search for the person using the search bar.
  2. Tap and hold the profile picture of the contact you want to pin until a menu opens.
  3. From the menu, select Chat & Notification Settings.
  4. Now tap on “Pin conversation”. The chat then appears at the top of the chat overview and is marked with a red pin emoji on the right.

Viewing on Snapchat: This is what you should also know

With the pinning feature on Snapchat, important chats always stay at the top of the list. There are limitations, but also customization options.

  • Pinning works on the Snapchat app, but is not available on Snapchat Web. In the web version you will see a pin on the profile picture of the pinned contacts, but you cannot edit them.
  • It's not possible to pin more than three conversations. If you then want to pin a new person, you must first remove another chat. You can do this by pressing the profile picture again, tapping “Chat and notification settings” and then selecting “Unstar.”
  • By default, chats are marked with a red pin. To change the icon, tap your Bitmoji in the top left, then tap the gear in the top right. This is how you get to the settings. Here, swipe down to “More options” and select “Friendship emoji.” Under Pinned Conversations, you can choose a different emoji for pinned chats.
