Export bookmarks from Safari

Export bookmarks from Safari

If you want to export the bookmarks from Safari, it can be done with just a few clicks.

Save and export Safari bookmarks

With this method you save all of your stored websites. So it's perfect if you're switching to a new browser. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Open Safari on your Mac and click ” in the menu barfiling“.
  2. Choose “Export -> Bookmarks” and specify the location for the file. Click “Save” to export the bookmarks from Safari.
  3. The file with the exported bookmarks contains the name “Safari-Bookmarks.html“.
  4. You can open the file in any other browser and view the Safari bookmarks there.
  5. Note: Unfortunately, exporting bookmarks does not work so conveniently on iOS. If you want to transfer bookmarks, you have to synchronize them via iCloud. To do this, activate synchronization with iCloud via the settings on your iPhone or iPad.

Drag individual bookmarks from the browser

Over time, tons of bookmarks accumulate.

  • So it makes sense to only export the most important ones so that you don't find the same chaos on your new computer.
  • To do this, open the bookmarks window in Safari and simply drag the desired websites to your desktop.
  • Individual bookmarks cannot be exported on iOS.
