AirPods connect iPhone and iPad: How to pair

If you want to connect your AirPods to a device, we have the instructions for that. We'll show you how to connect your wireless headphones to your iPhone or iPad.

Connect AirPods to iPhone and iPad – here's how

You can connect the AirPods to any iPhone, iPad or iPod with iOS 10 or later. Alternatively, you can also connect them to your Apple Watch (watchOS 3 or later), Apple TV (tvOS 11 or later) or your Mac with at least macOS Sierra. We'll show you how to connect them to your iPhone and iPad.

  1. First, go to the Home screen. Also, make sure that the AirPods and case are already charged.
  2. If you haven't already done so, turn on Bluetooth. Then open the case and hold it next to your device.
  3. A setup animation should now appear on the screen. Tap “Connect” and then “Done”. The AirPods are now connected and ready to use.

Using your AirPods

With your connected AirPods, you can now listen to music, make phone calls, use Siri, and more.

  • If you want to switch the audio output to another device, first open the Control Center.
  • Then firmly press the audio card in the upper right corner, tap the triangle with the outgoing waves and select your audio device.
