There are a lot of things to consider when returning an Amazon purchase and it's worth taking all the information into account before purchasing. This is especially true for one tip.

Amazon is at the top of the league among online retailers and the division, which has been known as returns purchasing since June 2023, has also developed into a business model over the years. However, before you make an Amazon return purchase, you should consider all the information in advance. Because when you make a return purchase, which is probably still known to many as Amazon Warehouse Deals, you are by no means always getting a “bargain”. It is therefore worth taking a closer look in advance before you decide to return one or more items from Amazon.
- In the majority of cases, the items from Amazon returns are not new goods, but are mostly returns. In other words, products that were returned to online retailers by customers for whatever reason.
- But it can also be so-called B-goods, new items where, for example, only the packaging has been damaged. Sometimes the items themselves get a scratch, but that doesn't necessarily have to be the case.
- When it comes to electrical devices, it is not uncommon for there to be a warranty claim. Amazon has the devices repaired and then offers them at a reduced price.
- How much you ultimately save with an Amazon return purchase varies greatly. Sometimes you can get a real bargain and get the item for half off. However, it is often only a few cents that you save by returning an Amazon purchase. If the savings are very small, it is important to think carefully about whether the supposed bargain really is, especially when it comes to electrical devices.
- Danger: It can even happen that the item is regularly offered at a cheaper price on Amazon or another online retailer and the product from the Amazon return purchase is actually a little more expensive. This isn't the norm, but it's not that rare. If you really want to save, it is important to take all the information into account in advance and compare prices.
Amazon return purchases – what you should know
The items offered for Amazon returns are in very different conditions. Some products don't even have a scratch, while others look a bit worn out.
- Product condition: So that you can get an “image” of the product condition, the items are divided into the categories “like new”, “very good”, “good” and “acceptable”. You will also usually find a brief description of what damage the respective product has and where it is located.
- Manufacturer's warranty: Otherwise, when purchasing an item from Amazon returns, the same applies as to all other items, with one exception: There is usually no longer a manufacturer's guarantee for items from Amazon returns, although the statutory warranty applies to the goods .
- Return deadline: The law requires a right of withdrawal of 14 days, during which the items can be returned without giving reasons. Amazon has joined this since mid-2024 and since then the 14-day return policy has generally applied.
