Ark 2 is the sequel to the popular survival game in which prehistoric beasts are fought and conquered. It is not clear when Ark 2 will be released.
Ark 2: Alleged release at the end of 2024 is unlikely
It's been four years since it was announced that there would be a sequel to the survival game Ark. (As of September 2024) Since then, there is still no confirmed release date for Ark 2 – and that despite the fact that developer Studio Wildcard claimed in the spring of 2023 when revealing the Ark roadmap via survivetheark.com that the game would be released in late 2024.
- It seems unlikely that this release date will be met. The second part was first announced at The Game Awards 2020. At that time, Ark 2 was supposed to be released in 2022.
- Two years passed without an update. Then the release of Studio Wildcard was postponed to 2023 and finally to the end of 2024. That is where the release date remains to this day.
- In a community post at the time, Studio Wildcard confirmed that the sequel's release had been delayed “until late 2024”: “We've put a lot of thought into postponing Ark 2 for the good of the final product and the team… So why the delay? Our goal is to make Ark 2 the best game it can be and give players a truly exceptional and rewarding experience.”
- What was particularly bitter was that in a blog post on xbox.com, Xbox had originally announced that users would be able to try out several demos at the Gamescom booth. Ark 2 was among the titles listed. However, the list of playable demo titles was revised, and Ark 2 was removed.
Ark 2 is supposed to offer something never seen before
Ark 2 is considered one of the most anticipated PC and Xbox Series X games of 2024 – except that the sequel probably won't come out this year. Nevertheless, Ark 2 remains a launch exclusive for the Xbox Series X, as Xbox reported on its own website.
- A release of the Ark successor for the PS4, PS5 or Xbox One is not yet planned, but it is planned for the PC.
- There is not much information about the content of Ark 2 yet. The fact is that Vin Diesel will be involved in the survival game as an executive producer. At the same time, he will take on a leading role in the story of Ark 2. Studio Wildcard announced this in an email to PC Gamer.
- There will also be major changes to the core elements of the game, such as the implementation of Souls-like melee combat. Wildcard CEO Doug Kennedy also emphasized in a post on LinkedIn that Ark 2 will “do something that has never been done before in video games.”
- For Ark 2, Studio Wildcard is working with the Unreal Engine 5. What the game will ultimately offer remains to be seen. Until the release date, which is as yet unknown, fans have to be one thing above all: patient.
