Measuring the feed-in of a balcony power plant can be important for billing reasons alone. Or to measure its efficiency.
Balcony power plant: measure feed-in correctly
The easiest way to measure the feed-in from a balcony power plant is to use three different electricity meters. While the consumption meter measures the amount of electricity from the operator of the grid system, the yield meter shows how much electricity was generated.
- The amount of electricity fed into the power grid is determined using the meter of the same name.
- However, power is only fed into the grid if you use less electricity than the system can produce. The surplus is then fed into the power grid.
- In addition to the amount of electricity fed into the grid, self-consumption is particularly relevant. This is calculated from the amount of electricity generated and consumed.
Measuring devices for balcony power plants
Nowadays, most household appliances with Schuko sockets, so-called protective contact sockets, are connected to the power grid via the plug of the same name. This also applies to balcony power plants, which can be monitored using a simple measuring socket.
- Always remember that a metering socket must not be exposed to wind or weather. A weatherproof socket is therefore a must.
- You can also choose between a device with or without radio. The latter are cheaper, but have to be read manually.
- The amount of electricity fed in can be read relatively easily. However, radio-controlled sockets in particular should have the function of being able to measure this.
