If you set a screen time on your child's smartphone so that they don't spend too much time on the Internet, they can still bypass the block. Therefore, you should know the following tricks:
- Desinstallation: If apps are deleted and then reinstalled, the apps' lock will be removed. This makes it easy to bypass screen time for certain apps. To prevent this, simply uninstall and install apps in your smartphone's settings.
- iMessage: If apps are opened via the Messages app, the screen time of the apps is not counted. The App Store and other apps, such as YouTube, can be opened easily via iMessage.
- Clock: If the time in the clock app is turned back to the time before the screen time expired, you can still use all functions without any problems. Therefore, set the clock to automatic in the settings so that your child cannot change it.
Other ways to trick screen time
Your child or someone else could also bypass screen time by using the following features:
- Screen recording: A passcode locks and unlocks the parental controls. To hack the passcode, your child could, for example, start the screen recording when you enter the passcode. Once they have the passcode, they can use the iPhone without any restrictions.
- Reset: If your child knows the Apple ID and password, they can reset the device to factory settings. Once the phone is reset, there will be no more Screen Time.
- Externe Apps: External apps and programs also allow you to bypass screen time. However, these often contain malware. To prevent your child from using such programs, you should create a list on your child's PC that does not allow the website to download unverified files from the Internet.
