The price of the 49-euro ticket will rise by nine euros from 2025. It will still not be possible to pay in cash. The reason: it is a subscription.
49-euro ticket: Cash payment not possible
The 49-euro ticket has been available since May 2023. The price will increase by nine euros from 2025 and will therefore be 58 euros.
- Despite the price change, the following still applies: The Deutschlandticket can only be purchased as a monthly subscription. You must book it online in advance and cannot buy it from a machine and pay in cash.
- The most common method offered by most transport operators is SEPA direct debit. Some providers also accept credit cards or PayPal.
- You can buy the ticket in the Deutschlandticket app or on the websites of the regional transport associations and the Deutsche Bahn website.
- You can also purchase the ticket without internet access. At the transport company counters and Deutsche Bahn sales points.
- If you don’t have a smartphone, you can carry the ticket with you using a chip card.
