Care levels: All services at a glance

For each of the five care levels, the nursing care insurance pays benefits to people in need of care who have certain limitations. The amount varies considerably.

Care levels: Classification of services after review

Nursing care benefits are understood to mean all services to which those insured with nursing care are entitled if an assessment recognizes the actual need.

  • The review, the so-called care assessment, is carried out by the Medical Service of the Health Insurance Funds (MDK) and may end with the recognition of a care level.
  • At each level of care, nursing and care services are provided by relatives as well as nursing and care staff or benefits in kind.
  • The previous care levels have been replaced and expanded by care grades. It is good if you know all the requirements and make full use of them.
