Defeating Snorlax in Pokémon Go: How to do it

Defeating Snorlax in Pokémon Go: How to do it

If you want to defeat Snorlax in Pokémon Go, you should first put together a suitable battle team. The decisive factor is which Pokémon type you choose for the battle.

How to defeat Snorlax in Pokémon Go

Snorlax is a stage three raid boss. If you defeat the Pokémon in a raid, you can then catch it.

  • Snorlax is a Normal-type Pokémon and is weak to Fighting-type attacks, so make sure you put together your team with as many Fighting-type Pokémon with suitable attacks as possible.
  • Snorlax is resistant to Ghost-type attacks, so it's best not to use Ghost-type Pokémon in the fight against this raid boss.
  • If you have already reached level 40 or higher, you can usually defeat Snorlax in the raid alone. If your trainer level is lower, you should fight the Pokémon together with at least one other trainer.
  • Good counters against Snorlax include Machamp and Hariyama. The Shadow versions of these Pokémon are particularly effective in battles against Snorlax. Lucario, Mogill and Capybara can also cause a lot of damage to Snorlax.
  • The particularly effective fighting attacks that they can use against Snorlax include “Counter”, “Power Punch”, “Karate Chop” and “Aura Sphere”.
  • Note that fighting moves are strengthened in overcast weather, giving you an advantage in raids. However, if the sky is partly cloudy, Snorlax receives a weather boost and is therefore stronger.

Special attacks: Snorlax is not easy to defeat

Snorlax has a high HP value and a high special defense. For example, the special ability Fat Layer makes it difficult to attack. This ability reduces the strength of ice and fire attacks against Snorlax by half. With the Immunity ability, it cannot be poisoned, paralyzed or put to sleep.

  • When carrying the Z-Crystal Relaxonium Z, Snorlax gains a powerful Z-attack – “No More Fun”. The name says it all for the opponent.
  • Apart from the offensive attacks, Snorlax is rather poorly equipped. Apart from the snore, Snorlax cannot offer any special attacks.
  • But: A big advantage of Snorlax is that it can learn many physical attacks of the Normal type, such as “Tackle”, “Bodyslam” or “Giga Punch”. Due to Snorlax's high body weight, these attacks are particularly strong and effective.
  • However, its defense against physical attacks remains rather low, making it a weakness for this Pokémon. So you should avoid letting Snorlax compete in close combat.
