If you no longer need certain apps on your Android smartphone, you can delete them and free up space for other apps, videos and photos.
Instructions: Delete Android apps quickly and easily
Deleting apps works differently depending on your smartphone, Android version and installed launcher. Therefore, there may be slight differences in the following instructions on your device.
- First, look for the app you want to delete. It can be in the app drawer or on the home screen.
- Keep your finger pressed on the app icon until you see a change on the display. Many devices also give a short vibration to indicate the right time.
- Move the app to the top left or right of the screen. There you will find the area Uninstall.
- The app and all associated data will then be deleted. However, you must first confirm this for security reasons.
- In some launchers, you can also delete individual apps by touching the app icon with your finger for a moment and then selecting the Uninstall function in a pop-up menu.
Delete Android apps via settings
Alternatively, you can delete the apps on your smartphone via the settings. This is helpful if your launcher does not allow uninstallation or you cannot find the app in the overview.
- First, open the Settings on your smartphone.
- Now select the category Apps > Alle AppsOn some devices, this can also Applications or similar names.
- In the list of installed apps, find the application you want to delete.
- Select the app and tap the button Uninstall.
- The app and all associated data will now be deleted after a short confirmation.
Tips and hints for deleted apps
While you can usually quickly reinstall deleted apps, there are a few things you should keep in mind.
- Deleting an app usually also removes all app data from your device. This includes settings and game saves. You should therefore back up important data beforehand.
- If you want to use a removed app again, you can install it via the Google Play Store or an APK file.
- You usually cannot delete system apps, you can only deactivate them.
- If you have rooted your smartphone, you can usually delete system apps. However, this can cause problems and, in the worst case, your device will no longer start. If in doubt, you should not remove such apps.
- Alternatively, some launchers and special apps allow you to hide apps so that you don't necessarily have to delete them.
