If you want to permanently delete your Apple ID, you must have your account deleted via the Apple website.
How to delete your Apple ID
You can use your Apple devices even without an Apple ID. If you want to delete your Apple ID, that's no problem. After that, your data will be irretrievably deleted and your purchases from the App Store will no longer be available.
- Open this Apple website and log in with your Apple ID.
- Under the menu item “Manage your data”, select the option “Delete your account” and click “Start”.
- Now that you have provided information about the reason for deleting your account, you will be informed in detail about the consequences. Give your consent and click the “Continue” button.
- In the next step, specify how you would like to receive news about the status of your Apple ID.
- You will now receive an access code, which you must enter in the next step to confirm the deletion of your account.
- Finally, you just have to confirm your intention by clicking on “Delete account”.
- The deactivation of your account is now being processed and may take up to 7 business days.
Alternative: Request deletion of Apple ID via the contact form
Alternatively, you can have your Apple ID deleted using the contact form on the Apple website. If the request was successful, you will receive a confirmation email from Apple.
- Select your region in the contact form, for example “Europe”.
- Fill in the fields and write in the subject line, for example, “Deletion of my Apple ID”.
- Under “Details” you request the deletion of your Apple account and submit the form by clicking on “Send”.
- An Apple employee will then contact you shortly.
Important: Remove Apple ID from mobile device
If you have deleted your Apple ID or requested its deletion, you should also delete the ID from your mobile device. You have ten days to do this; after this, it will no longer be possible and your device will be locked.
- Open Settings on your iPad or iPhone.
- Select the menu item “iTunes & App Store”.
- Now another window will open – select “Log out”.
- Your device is now no longer linked to your old Apple ID.
Remove data from Apple ID
In just a few steps, you can delete important data such as your credit card number from your Apple ID. To do this, you must have iTunes installed on your computer. This program allows you to manage your Apple ID from your PC.
- Start iTunes and sign in to the iTunes Store. To do this, click on “Store” and select the “Sign In” option.
- Click on the menu item “Store” and select “View my Apple ID”.
- A window will open with your account information. By clicking on “Edit” you can change or remove the desired information.
- For example, if you want to remove your credit card information, you can do so by clicking on “Edit” next to “Payment Information”. This way, your Apple ID will still exist and you may still be able to access apps and music you have already purchased later.
