Elden Ring: Calling a horse - How to do it

Being able to call the horse in Elden Ring makes it easier to explore the vast world. The mount can even accompany you into battle.

How to call your horse in Elden Ring

In order to call the horse, you must first unlock it. To do this, a few conditions must be met. The following steps will work:

  • You must find the character Melina, who appears in certain places of grace.
  • Activate three different places of grace and rest there with your character. After enough rest, you will receive the Spectral Horse Whistle from Melina.
  • It is best to place the Spectral Horse Whistle on one of the four hotkeys in the bag menu.
  • Hold the Triangle/Y button on your controller and press the assigned hotkey to summon Stormwind. The horse cannot be summoned in dungeons or certain areas.
  • Rest at a place of mercy to revive the horse if it dies.

Further tips on how to deal with horses

With Stormwind at your side, you can now explore the game world much faster and thus progress in the game overall. You can also follow the tips below to make the best use of your mount.

  • While riding, press the Sprint button (Circle/B) to activate the gallop and travel at high speed.
  • With a double jump you can overcome large obstacles and even ravines with your horse.
  • Items can be collected without having to dismount, saving you valuable time.
  • In battle, use the shoulder buttons to attack on the left and right sides of the horse.
Attention: Some actions, such as using weapon skills, are not possible while on horseback.
  • For example, feed raisins via hotkeys to heal and strengthen Stormwind during battle.
