The world of Elden Ring features a few locations where Larval Tears can be found. However, these key items are well hidden or secured by strong enemies. There are a total of 18 larval tears that you can collect per playthrough.
- Limgrave (Agheel-See): Near Agheel Lake South, you'll find a Larval Tear dropped by a transformed Lesser Runebear. This enemy disguises itself as an inconspicuous wanderer, but transforms into a powerful opponent.
- Liurnia of the Lakes (Rose Church): A gigantic crayfish near Rose Church is carrying a Larval Tear. This enemy disguises itself as a crab, making it seem harmless at first glance.
- Nokron and Nokstella: In Nokron, right after the first boss fight, you will find a Larva Tear. This area is particularly treacherous as many enemies hide well and lie in wait for you in the dark. Several Larval Tears can also be found in these underground areas, which become accessible during the Ranni quest.
- Caelid: In this cursed region you can find several Larval Tears, often guarded by dangerous enemies.
- Altus Plateau and Mt. Gelmir: These higher areas also host some larval tears.
- Sacred Snowfield: There are more Larval Tears hidden in this late game area.
- Siofra: A Larval Tear can be purchased from the Reclusive Merchant in Siofra for 3,000 Runes.

If you have the larval tears in your inventory, you should use them optimally. Larval Tears allow you to redistribute your attribute points with an important NPC, Rennala.
- Rennala, Academy of Raya Lucaria: Rennala is the NPC you can use your larval tears on. You can find Rennala in the Academy of Raya Lucariaa central location in Liurnia of the Lakesafter defeating them as boss. Each realignment of your attributes requires a Larval Tear. So plan carefully before using one as these items are limited.
- Strategic scoring: Consider which attributes to adjust to better prepare for upcoming battles. You can distribute points from less important attributes to those that are crucial to your current equipment or magic.
- Difficult boss fights: Before particularly challenging boss fights, it can make sense to redistribute the points for attributes. Optimized character alignment can be the difference between victory and defeat. For example, a high Faith score could be crucial in fights against magic-resistant enemies like Malenia, while Dexterity would be useful against fast enemies like Radahn.
