How to change the password of your Fritzbox
Changing the password on your Fritzbox is an important step to ensure the security of your network. Follow these instructions to change your password easily and securely:
- Open Fritzbox interface: Open your web browser and enter “fritz.box” in the address bar. Press “Enter” to open the Fritzbox user interface.
- Registration on the Fritzbox: Enter your current Fritzbox password to log in. If you have forgotten the password, you can find it on a sticker on the back of your Fritzbox.
- Change Password: In the menu on the left, navigate to “System” and select “Fritzbox user”. Click on the user whose password you want to change. Enter your new password in the “Password” field and confirm the change by clicking “Apply”.
Solve problems when changing passwords
Sometimes you may encounter difficulties when changing your Fritzbox password.
- Forgot password: If you have forgotten the password for your Fritzbox, you can reset the device to the factory settings. To do this, press the reset button on the back of the Fritzbox for about 10 seconds. Please note that this will cause all settings to be lost and you will have to set up the Fritzbox again.
- No connection to the Fritzbox interface: If the Fritzbox interface does not load, check whether your device is correctly connected to the network. Make sure that you have entered the address “fritz.box” correctly and try opening the page in a different browser.
- Change is not accepted: If the password change is not saved, make sure that the new password meets the requirements (at least 12 characters, combination of letters, numbers and special characters). Also make sure that you click “Apply” after entering it and do not ignore any error messages.
- Wi-Fi connection lost after password change: After changing the Fritzbox password, you must reconnect your devices to the WiFi. To do this, go to the WiFi settings of your device and enter the new password.
