Standing in line at Gamescom is as certain as amen in church. After all, the fair is regularly sold out. Read here how you can avoid the lines, or at least shorten the waiting time.
Tip 1: Get to Gamescom early to avoid queues
Probably the most important tip to at least partially avoid long queues: you have to get there early.
- Try to be one of the first there if possible and then head straight for the score that is most important to you.
- Once you are on the exhibition grounds, you should get to the stand as quickly as possible. You can do this if you know which hall it is in. To do this, study the exhibition plan carefully in advance.
- Be sure to plan for waiting times at the entrance. It is best to arrive at least an hour before admission begins to increase your chances.
Tip 2: Make a plan for Gamescom and queue more efficiently
If you wander aimlessly from booth to booth at Gamescom, you will only end up waiting in long lines. So here's what you should keep in mind:
- The best way to put together your Gamescom schedule in advance is to use the exhibitor search function on the homepage.
- Prioritize the stands you want to see most in order of priority. This way you can be sure that you can visit the things you really want to see. Because the later it gets, the more crowded the fair becomes.
- Our tip: If you don't have games high on your priority list, you can probably play them at the end of the day. Sometimes there are still opportunities at the last minute when the fair has become less crowded. But you should be flexible here: If you see a free stand, don't think twice and start playing.
Tip 3: Divide stands into days
If you are there for several days, you can usually visit more game stands.
- For example, if you want to play several big games, you should ideally split them up.
- So, do your highlight 1 on the first day, highlight 2 on the second day, and highlight 3 on the third day. This way you can avoid long waiting times on one day.
