In order to receive your GMX emails in Outlook, Thunderbird or Apple Mail, you may need to know the POP server settings.
GMX: Find Pop Server
Some email programs have to be set up manually in order to be able to retrieve emails from your GMX account. Depending on which email program you use, you will find the POP server in different places.
- On the GMX website you will find the Pop server as incoming mail server (POP3) “pop.gmx.net”. The portis “995”. The security: SSL/TLS. For authenticationthe password of the email account is required.
- The SMTP server settings for sending emails: Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.gmx.net. The port is 587 or 465 with SSL. Security: STARTTLS or SSL/TLS. The password is also required here for authentication.
Find pop server settings in your email program
You can find out how GMX's incoming mail server and outgoing mail server differ in another practical tip. Depending on the email program and operating system you use, the individual settings and menus may have different names.
- In Outlook, go to the “File” tab, then to the “Account Settings” option. Select your GMX account. Then select “Change” > “More Settings” > “Advanced”.
- In Thunderbird, go to the “Account Settings” tab. Select your GMX account and then “Server Settings” for the POP3 server.
- In Apple Mail, go to the “Mail” tab. There, select the “Settings” options and then “Accounts”. There, select your GMX account and finally select “Server Settings”.
