The Gothic: Remake lets you experience the story of the Nameless Hero in the Valley of Mines again in the Unreal Engine 5.
Gothic: Remake of the German role-playing classic at a glance
The fantasy RPG Gothic from Piranha Bytes is being re-released in a remake. It takes the story and world of the 2001 game, expands it and puts you back in the shoes of the Nameless Heroes.
- The Spanish studio Alkimia Interactive is responsible for the implementation of the Gothic remake. Unreal Engine 5 which is partly intended to enable mod support.
- The story about the nameless hero in Myrtana and the Minental should not be changed, only expanded. This also applies to the game world, which should be up to 30 percent larger than the original and offer more accessible areas.
- New Quests are also added to further expand NPCs or the world. The combat system was taken from the original and reworked to offer players a familiar but also more fluid style.
- The armor and cooking system, as well as the puzzles, have also been expanded to match the larger scope of the remake. Survival in the Valley of Mines plays an important role and you have to make use of all resources.
- For the soundtrack, Kai Rosental who has already provided the musical accompaniment for Gothic 1 to 3. The music is being reinterpreted and new pieces are being added.
- Die German setting was also not neglected. New dialogues with significantly better audio quality are added.

The remake of Gothic should not be long in coming. A release is scheduled for second half of 2024 planned.
