How to set up Amazon Fire TV Stick

There isn't too much to consider when setting up the Amazon Fire TV Stick. You can connect it and start enjoying streaming content in no time.

Setting up Amazon Fire TV Stick: The first steps

The delivery includes the Amazon Fire TV Stick, the Amazon Fire TV remote control, an HDMI extension, a USB cable, a power adapter and two AAA batteries.

  1. Turn off your TV and plug the Amazon Fire TV Stick into a free HDMI port on the back of your TV. If the stick is too bulky, use the HDMI extension.
  2. Now connect the USB cable to the Fire TV Stick. You can either plug the other end directly into the TV or into the included power adapter.
  3. Now insert the two AAA batteries into the remote control and start your TV. Change the input source to “HDMI” and you can begin setting it up.

How to connect the Fire TV Stick to the Internet

To proceed further and to access streaming services, the Fire TV Stick must be connected to the Internet. This is how it works:

  1. First, you need to connect to your Wi-Fi network. To do this, first navigate to the settings using the gear icon, then select “Network” and connect to your Wi-Fi network. If it does not appear in the list, activate “Show all networks”.
  2. Once you have successfully connected, the Fire TV Stick will now search for available updates and install them. This process can take a few minutes. The Fire TV Stick may restart several times.
  3. Now you have to log in with your Amazon account. If you ordered the Fire TV Stick directly from Amazon, this step may not be necessary.
  4. Finally, a short video starts in which the Amazon Fire TV Stick is explained again. The device is now ready for use. Under the “Settings” category, you can make further changes if you wish.
