You should switch off data roaming on your Android smartphone when you are travelling abroad in the EU. Otherwise, this can lead to high costs.
Disable data roaming on Android
Thanks to the roaming regulation, it is no longer necessary to turn off data roaming in the EU. There are no extra costs for making calls and surfing the internet. However, if you are travelling outside the EU, you should turn off roaming. Depending on the manufacturer and user interface, the names of the menu items and the menu navigation may vary slightly. The usual way is as follows:
- Go to the settings of your Android device.
- Tap “Connections” and then “Mobile Networks”.
- Here you will find the item “Data roaming”. You can deactivate the option using the slider.
