Install fonts and fonts on Mac

If you would like to install new fonts and typefaces on your Mac, you have several options available.

Install fonts on Mac with just a double click

The easiest way to install a new font on your Mac is to open the font file directly.

  1. Find the font in Finder and double-click to open it.
  2. You will now see a preview window that shows a selection of the characters of the selected font. In the drop-down menu, select the font style – but this only affects the preview, not the installation.
  3. In the bottom left corner of the window you can see the status of the font – in our case “Not installed”.
  4. You can change this by clicking “Install” in the bottom right corner.
  5. Important: After installing new fonts, you should restart the application in which you want to use the fonts. This ensures that all fonts are recognized correctly.

Install fonts and typefaces conveniently using the font collection on the Mac

A slightly more convenient way to install new fonts is to use the font collection.

  1. Open the font book. To do this, go to the program folder and double-click Font Collection. Alternatively, you can open the font collection via Launchpad or search for the folder via Spotlight.
  2. At the same time, open Finder and navigate to the folder with the font you want to install.
  3. If you drag and drop the font into the font collection, it will be installed automatically.
