If you want to record a call on your iPhone, there are different ways to do this. It is usually possible without much effort.
Record iPhone call: These are the options
If you want to record a phone call on your iPhone, there are several options:
- Apps for recording: With special apps like “TapeACallPro” you can record both outgoing and incoming phone calls. To do this, open the app during a phone call and press the red button to record. Conferences with more than two people can also be recorded.
- The TapeACall service records the conversation and you then receive it in the app, from which you can export it by email. The free version allows recordings of up to 60 seconds. The full version with longer recording time is subject to a fee.
- Voicemail: Without an app, you can record via voicemail. To do this, save your own phone number under your own contacts. Call the contact you want and tap “Add call” after the call has started. Then you have to act quickly: go to your contact list and select your own cell phone number, then tap the green handset.
- This will establish a connection to the mailbox. As soon as you hear the beep, tap “Conference”. The call will now be recorded. The recording is ended by pressing the red receiver. The recording can be listened to via the phone app under the “Voicemail” option. Good to know: Not every mobile phone provider allows the recording of telephone conversations.
- Danger: Recording telephone calls is only permitted if you consent to the recording.
iPhone: More options for recording calls
There are two other ways you can record a call. Both require some effort, as Apple has not built this feature in.
- Jailbreak: You can record for free using a jailbreak. If you want to jailbreak your iPhone, however, you need to be aware of the problems and weigh up the risks. Once you have installed the jailbreak on your iPhone, you can install the “Audio Recorder” app via Cydia. When making phone calls, you will find a small button at the top left that you can use to record the conversation.
- Second device: For this option, you will need a second smartphone, tablet or voice recorder. This will allow you to record the call on your iPhone with the volume set to loud. The quality of the recording may be poorer than with the other options listed. You should be in a quiet environment without loud background noise during the call so that the recording is understandable.
