Nexus Mod Manager - This is how the gaming tool works

With the Nexus Mod Manager “Vortex” you can download and integrate user extensions for games like Skyrim, Fallout or Dark Souls.

Nexus Mod Manager Vortex: Download and install the gaming tool

To use the Nexus Mod Manager Vortex, first register on the Nexus website.

  1. Without an account you cannot download the Nexus Mod Manager and mod downloads are limited to files with a maximum size of 2 MB.
  2. Now you can download the Nexus Mod Manager “Vortex”.
  3. Start the downloaded EXE file and select “German” in the language selection. You will then be guided through the installation.

Nexus Mod Manager: Simply add mods to Skyrim and Co

To add mods to games like Skyrim, Fallout or Dark Souls, first start the Nexus Mod Manager.

  1. The games tool will now automatically search your hard drive for the games that the “Nexus Mod Manager” supports. Click on the respective red cross to cancel the process for a game. Confirm the games you have found by clicking on the green tick. If an incorrect path is displayed, you can also enter it manually.
  2. Now open a supported Nexus mods portal (for example Skyrim Nexus Mods) and click on a mod there.
  3. To the right of the mod name you will see a download button. If you click on this, you have the choice between “Download with Manager” and “Download manually”. Choose the former.
  4. Now the file will be downloaded in the Nexus Mod Manager. Once it has finished downloading, it will appear under the “Mods” tab.
  5. If there is no green tick in front of the mod, it is not installed yet. Then just click on the blue puzzle piece directly above the red cross in the left bar (see screenshot) to install the mod.
  6. Finally, check whether the mod is also activated under the “Plugins” tab. If not, simply tick the box above with a mouse click.
