The Summer Olympics are a major sporting event. They take place every four years. In 2024, the French capital Paris will be the host venue. As usual, the public broadcasters will show many disciplines. Das Erste and ZDF will take turns broadcasting them every day. One constant are the specialty channels Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2, which will broadcast the competitions live or in repeats for the entire duration.
- The broadcasts of the public broadcasters are freely accessible in Germany. You can access live streams on the websites of Das Erste and ZDF. There are also other live streams on the websites of Sportschau and Sportstudio, some of which are not broadcast on television. The broadcasts can also be found in the media library.
- You can also follow some decisions live on ARD radio.
- Live streams from Das Erste and ZDF are also available via services such as Magenta TV, Joyn, waipu and Zattoo. Some packages also include Eurosport.
- At Eurosport you can watch the Olympic Games broadcast on free TV on Eurosport 1 and on pay TV on Eurosport 2. Both channels will be reporting non-stop on the Olympic Games.

Fun Facts about the Olympics
Olympia is first and foremost the eponymous ancient site of the Olympic Games and means the games themselves. The two terms – Olympia and Olympic Games – are often mistakenly used synonymously. This means that the Olympic Games are taking place in Tokyo, not Olympia. Olympics refers to the four-year period between the Olympic Games. These disciplines are new at the 2024 Olympics in Paris
As is often the case, the range of Olympic sports on offer has changed compared to the previous Games in Tokyo, which were postponed from 2020 to 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
- The sport of breaking is taking part for the first time. This is a breakdancing competition.
- After their premiere in Tokyo, skateboarding, sport climbing and surfing are once again part of the competition program.
