Developing Cosmog: How it works

Pokerogue is a fan game based on the popular Pokémon series. With a little know-how, the game is a lot of fun.

Pokerogue – what is the game all about?

Pokérogue is a fan-made game that you can easily play via your PC browser and your smartphone's mobile browser. First, simply download the game from pokerogue.net and register. Then you can immerse yourself in the world of Pokérogue and develop your skills as a Poké trainer.

  • Even though Pokérogue is based on Pokémon, the game is categorically different from the Nintendo game. The goal is to reach different levels, get hold of numerous Pokémon and complete battles with other trainers. There are currently 200 levels in total (as of September 2024) that you can reach step by step on Pokérogue.
  • In addition to the individual battles, you will encounter final bosses on every ten levels that you must defeat. However, the difficulty level can also increase as you move up the levels. This means that the battles are much harder to overcome and require a certain level of expertise.
  • However, there is no need to force a break between battles. If you want to pause Pokérogue at home or on the go, simply save the game.
  • It is important to select special Pokémon for battles. At the beginning you only have three basic pocket monsters. It is therefore advisable that you catch more Pokémon and use them for your purposes.
  • However, the Pokémon are not only useful for your battles on the individual levels. They also help you find various items in your playthroughs that you can use to advance.
  • Some Pokémon that have a purple frame are considered highlights. They provide more experience points that you should secure. This increases your fighting power and your chances of winning various challenges.

What awaits you on the different levels of Pokérogue

Pokérogue is divided into various levels. Here you will repeatedly meet Ivy, who stands in your way and thus in front of your goal. The rival challenges you, with each challenge requiring more experience and skill.

  • Even though a final boss is often more difficult to defeat, you should not underestimate Ivy. Always keep an eye on the health bars of the opponents and their Pokémon to achieve victory.
  • Ivy often swaps Pokémon during the battles. However, with your matching pocket monsters, you can respond to the battle calls in a targeted manner. To get a selection of Pokémon, you should collect them and continually improve their abilities.
  • Pay attention to your Pokémon's candy. You can use these gadgets to unlock abilities. Don't forget the purple bottle either to activate hidden abilities.

How easy it is to control the game at Pokerogue

When playing Pokerogue on your PC, your main tools are the arrow keys on your keyboard. However, there are other keys you should pay attention to. These keys are used to control your character through the game and the different levels.

  • Use Enter or the space bar to navigate through a dialog. Alternatively, you can also use the Z key. If you want to end a dialog, press the X key or the backspace key.
  • You can open and close the game menu using ESC or M. If you hold down C, you can view the current game statistics.
  • The E key allows you to control and activate your Pokémon's abilities. The N key is also useful for changing pocket monsters, while F is useful for changing form.
  • If you want to use a controller, press A or X to continue the dialogue. Press B to cancel the dialogue. If you want to open or close the game menu, press the “Start” button.
  • To control or select your Pokémon, press the Select button. Use the X button to change a nature, while Y determines the variant.
