Pokémon Polished Crystal is a custom Pokémon game – a so-called ROM hack – based on the disassembly of Pokémon Crystal.
- Pokémon Polished Crystal aims to be an improved, “polished” version of Pokémon Crystal. The Pokémon ROM hack fixes bugs, takes into account the official changes to the game since 2001, and adds some new ideas.
- In addition, many functions that were removed from R/B/Y or taken from HG/SS have been restored.
- The result is a fun game with changes and optimizations that Pokémon fans all over the world can enjoy.
- In this rom hack, you can catch Pokemon that also evolve. There are numerous new Pokemon added, including Leafeon, Glaceon, Sylveon, Togekiss, Mangle, Mischief Managed, Electabuzz, Magmort, Magnezone, Tangrowth, Rhyhornior, Porygon-Z, Yanmega, Gliscor, Mamoswine, and Munchlax.
- However, some Pokémon were also removed because there could only be 253 monsters in the second generation. These include Habitak, Ibitak, Lickit, Goldini, Golking, Hoppspross, Hubbelupf, Papungha, Pottrott, Awl, Damhirplex, Clef, Fluffuff, Smooch and Botogel.
- There are also many new and optimized moves, while others have been removed. Another new feature is a division into physical and special. Razor Leaf, for example, is a physical move in the ROM hack.
Many features and optimizations
Pokémon Polished Crystal comes with numerous features. The new functions and highlights include the 253 Pokémon already mentioned, including some new evolutions.
- In addition, you will find 48 new moves, 65 TMs, and 21 move tutors in the Rome hack. There are also many new mechanics, including the fairy type, physical and special separation, natures, unlimited TMs, running shoes, and continuous defense.
- The new cards include some from R/B/Y that have been restored, as well as some remastered and original ones from HG/SS.
- Pokémon Polished Crystal features new characters, including Lorelei and Agatha from R/B/Y, Lyra, and the Team Rocket Executives from HG/SS.
- There is also more content after a game, such as rematches against Gym Leaders and an event after the battle against Red.
- An improved level curve with steadily increasing challenges over the course of the game is also available. Also included are optimized music and graphics. In addition, Nuzlocke mode has been activated in the options menu.
