Restore closed tabs in Safari

To restore accidentally closed tabs in Safari, there are several options on Mac and iPhone.

Safari: Restore a closed tab using a keyboard shortcut

It can always happen that you accidentally click away from a tab. To help you restore the closed window in Safari, there is a handy keyboard shortcut on Mac.

  • You can open the last closed tab using the shortcut “cmd” + “Z”.
  • However, this only works if you haven't done anything else in between – for example, entered a text field.

Open the closed tab in Safari again using the menu

Using the Safari menu bar you will get the same result as using the keyboard shortcut described above.

  • To do this, simply click on “History” and “Recently closed”.
  • Then click on the website you want to reopen.
