Samsung Galaxy Reboot: Smartphone only starts up to Samsung logo

When rebooting Samsung Galaxy models, it can happen that the smartphone gets stuck on the manufacturer's logo during the restart.

Samsung Galaxy Reboot: Force restart at logo

If your Samsung Galaxy won't boot past the logo, a forced restart, or reboot, is often the first step you should try. This helps fix minor software errors without losing data.

  • Press the power and volume down buttons at the same time: Press and hold both buttons for at least 10 to 15 seconds until the device vibrates and turns off. Wait for it to restart on its own. This method works on most devices and does not disturb your personal data.
  • If the problem persists: If the phone is still stuck on Samsung logo after rebooting, proceed to the next steps.

Boot the device in safe mode

Safe mode disables all third-party apps and allows you to isolate the problem if a faulty app is blocking the boot process.

  • How to enable safe mode: Press and hold the Power button until the Samsung logo appears. Once the logo appears, release the Power button and immediately press the Volume Down button. Keep holding this button until “Safe Mode” appears at the bottom of the screen.
  • Remove faulty apps: Use the device in safe mode and uninstall recently installed apps that may be triggering the error. This is a common cause and you can fix it this way.

Wipe cache partition in recovery mode

The cache partition stores temporary files that are loaded during system startup. If these files are corrupted, the Samsung Galaxy may freeze.

  • How to wipe the cache partition: Turn off the device and press and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons until the Samsung logo appears. Then release the Power button but continue to hold the Volume Up button until the recovery menu appears. Use the Volume buttons to select “Wipe Cache Partition” and confirm with the Power button. Then restart the device.
