Set or remove PayPal limit

Set or remove PayPal limit

You can set or cancel your limit in your PayPal account. This means you can enjoy shopping – without exceeding your financial limits.

Setting and removing PayPal limits: This is what you should know

To protect users, PayPal has a so-called sending and debit limit as long as their own bank account is not confirmed.

  • The transfer limit or the PayPal maximum amount is 2,500 euros. For amounts above this it is not possible to transfer without verifying the bank account.
  • PayPal reserves the right to check larger amounts first, even after a bank account has been verified.
  • Your limit will increase when you verify your bank account. Then the PayPal limit per day is between 3,000 and 25,000 euros, depending on the bank.
  • The sending limit via PayPal Friends does not differ from the limit for commercial payments.

Remove sending and withdrawal limit: Only after verification

After entering your bank account, you can verify it. This will remove your sending and withdrawal limit. For security reasons, you should only lift your limit when you really need it.

  1. First go to the PayPal website and log in with your user data.
  2. To remove the limit, you must link either a credit card or bank account to your PayPal account.
  3. Click on “E-Exchange” in the top menu bar. Here you can link either option using the “Add bank account” or “Add credit card” links.
  4. Once you have provided the information, the bank account or credit card still needs to be verified. PayPal transfers a small amount to the account. To verify, you need the four-digit code that you can find in the purpose of the transfer.
  5. As soon as the amount has been received, log in to PayPal again and go to “E-Börse” again. Access the specified bank account or credit card here. If you enter the code, the limit will be lifted.
  6. Important: The limit for PayPal installment payments is between 99 euros and 5,000 euros with a term of either 3, 6, 12 and 24 months.

Edit PayPal limit in settings

After you have verified your account or a credit card with Paypal, you can remove the limit via the settings.

  • Once you have logged in to your PayPal account, click on “About your PayPal account”. There select “Remove Limits”.
  • Check or uncheck the box depending on whether you want to remove the limit or not and confirm the information. Your limit will only be lifted if you have ticked the relevant box. This means you can now send unlimited money.
  • Danger: For security reasons, you should only lift the PayPal sending limit in exceptional cases – and only for reputable and trustworthy money recipients.
  • To set a specific limit, go to “Change” in the card overview. Tap Change again next to the limit you want to set to adjust it.
  • By the way: There is no PayPal receiving limit.
