On Mac, there are some simple keyboard shortcuts to quickly display the Desktop. This feature is particularly useful when you have many windows open and you need quick access to files or folders on the desktop.
- Activate the F keys. Then press the F3-Taste (also known as the Mission Control key) to display all open windows in one overview. Here you can also quickly access the desktop by clicking on the free desktop area. This method is particularly useful if you want to get an overview of your open apps.
- To immediately hide all windows and show the desktop, press the keyboard shortcut Cmd (⌘) + F3. This combination moves all open windows to the side so that the desktop is immediately visible. Press the buttons again to return the windows to their previous position.
- Another handy keyboard shortcut to see the desktop is Fn + F11. This shortcut also hides all windows and shows you the Mac desktop.
- Tipp: You can customize the keyboard shortcuts for the Show Desktop feature to your liking. To do this, go to System Preferences → Keyboard → Shortcuts → Mission Control. Here you can configure the “Show Desktop” command or customize it to your liking.
