Telegram: How to find people and groups nearby
The Telegram messenger service offers a special function that allows you to find and get to know people and groups in your area. This way you can make new contacts, join local Telegram groups or create groups yourself. Here's how:
- Open the Telegram app.
- Tap on the top left Three dash symbolto open the menu.
- Select the point “Contact” out of.
- Press on “Find people nearby”.
- Turn that on Location function on your smartphone so that Telegram can find users in your area.
- You will now People and groups in your area are displayed – with profile picture, name and exact distance. Your own and other people's cell phone numbers are generally not displayed in “People Nearby”.
- Write to other users, join local groups or create groups yourself.
- If you want nearby users to be able to find you using People Nearby, tap “Make myself visible”. You can switch this function off again at any time.
