If you don't want to use it when watching other people's content, you can easily turn off the subtitles on Instagram.

  • First, open Instagram and go to your profile. You can do this by tapping your profile picture on the right side of the app.

How to turn off subtitles for Reels and Stories!

If you want to disable captions on Instagram more quickly and easily, you can also do this via the Reel tab. To do this, you first have to open your Instagram app and start a Reel.

  • Tap your Reels in your profile. After starting a Reel, you will find three horizontally arranged dots in the bottom right.
  • If you tap these points, a new area will open. There you will find the “Subtitles and Translations” category, which you can tap briefly.
  • You now have the option of displaying or deactivating the subtitle in the reel if you wish. To do this, tap the slider function in the “Show subtitles” area.

Manage subtitles for your own Reels

When you post a Reel on Instagram, you provide your followers with news directly, but you have a choice: you can add or disable captions at any time.

  • If you want to upload a new Reels, first select the desired video from your gallery or create new content directly. Always make sure that you use good lighting and excellent quality to create a high-quality post. If you now want to add a subtitle, click on the smiley sticker at the bottom.
  • A bar will open in which you will also find the “Subtitle” option. If you tap this sticker, the system will create a suitable subtitle within a few moments.
  • If you leave this option unchecked, the post will be missing a subtitle. Simply add any other filters or music you like before publishing the new content.
  • When you create a story, Instagram does not automatically add subtitles. However, if you would like subtitles, it is best to first create your content using an app such as CapCut. With the CapCut app, you can simply add a subtitle and individually set the font size and typeface.
