Using steam cleaners in the oven - what you should know

If you want to use a steam cleaner to clean your oven, please note a few tips. This is only possible under certain conditions.

Instructions for using the steam cleaner in the oven

If you want to clean the oven and use the steam cleaner, this device actually reaches its limits. Although it is often advertised for this purpose, stubborn dirt and grease deposits in the oven are difficult to remove with steam.

  • Since grease and dirt are difficult to remove with a steam cleaner, you should clean the oven with oven cleaner before using the device. Please refer to the instructions for use.
  • You could then use the steam cleaner to clean the rest of the area. However, you should only do this rarely and in exceptional cases.
  • The steam that flows into the oven under pressure also spreads to places that you would not be able to reach with a normal cleaning procedure. This means that if the steam passes through the cracks in the installed parts, it reaches the electrical parts behind them.
  • This can be dangerous. Short circuits cannot be ruled out. Corrosion can also subsequently become a problem.

Using the steam cleaner in the oven

If you have decided to use the steam cleaner, proceed as follows:

  1. Fill your steam cleaner with distilled water.
  2. Place the supplied brush attachment onto the tip of the steam cleaner.
  3. Allow the water to heat up. First, select a slightly lower temperature setting to see how the cleaning results are. If the dirt is baked on, select the highest temperature setting and the highest pressure.
  4. Turn on the steam cleaner and start cleaning. Strong pressure is unnecessary, just move the brush back and forth on the surfaces to be cleaned.
  5. Wipe off the loosened dirt with a cloth.
  6. Then clean the entire interior of the oven with a water and vinegar mixture. To do this, mix equal proportions of water and vinegar in a bowl. Dip a cloth in it and wipe the interior and the door.
  7. Finally, wipe with a cloth soaked in clean water. Allow the oven to dry thoroughly before closing the oven door again.
