What is Windows 11 LTSC?
Windows 11 LTSC stands for Long-Term Servicing Channel. Unlike regular versions of Windows, which are updated frequently, LTSC is aimed at users who work in environments where stability, reliability and compatibility are top priorities:
- Windows 11 LTSC offers an extended support period of ten years. This includes five years of general support and five years of extended support. During this time, only security and critical updates are provided, but no new features are introduced. This minimizes the risk that new features will disrupt existing applications or workflows.
- One of the main characteristics of Windows 11 LTSC is the lack of frequent feature updates. While regular versions of Windows receive major updates with new features two to three times a year, LTSC remains largely unchanged.
- This makes the operating system particularly advantageous for systems used in critical environments such as machine controls, medical technology or industrial applications.
- In addition, LTSC does not include many pre-installed apps and services that are often not needed in a corporate environment. These include Cortana, the Microsoft Store, and various games. This results in a slimmer and more efficient operating system.

LTSC is not suitable for companies that want to constantly use the latest technology and features:
- While regular versions of Windows receive regular new features and visual improvements, LTSC remains unchanged in its functionality. New features of Windows 11 such as visual updates, new UI elements or Windows subsystems are not introduced in LTSC.
- Because the Microsoft Store is not available in LTSC, apps distributed exclusively through the Store cannot be easily installed.
- For organizations running LTSC, moving to a newer version is usually planned after the end of support. There are no automatic upgrades to a later LTSC version, so organizations must carefully plan when to move to a newer version.
